Hello

I apologize in advance if this question was asked before which I imagine it should have been. But I honestly tried and tried the Search.
I really need some advice on ascending in Hard Mode. I have tried the normal mode way (spirit spamming etc.) and it does not seem to work. The damage that thing is doing is way too high. Any suggestions? Please!

Are you ascending for the first time or can you already change your secondary? If so easiest way to beat him is take as many necro sac health skills as possible and he will kill himself

You can't out-damage him, you need to outsmart him. The key is that you can elect not to use a skill on your bar. Fill your bar with intentionally useless or harmful skills which you, but not him, understand not to use.

The easiest is if your secondary is necromancer, then you can simply stack up with health-sacrifice spells and watch him suicide.

If your secondary is mesmer, you could try lowering your marksmanship to 0, fill your skillbar with expensive bow attacks, go to 12 in domination, and drop Empathy on him. He'll drop empathy on you too, but you don't attack so it doesn't hurt you - but it will hurt him.

or do what numa said and take ss ip so ip will heal you for a little bit

rangers have spirits too

I did it with a pet, some attack skills and Heal as One as self-heal

The way I did it is to bring two ranger spirits, I do Favorable Winds and Winnowing so that you get a boost if he gets them off, then run a spike build. One way is with a Glass Arrows/Conjure build with Triple Shot, Penetrating Attack and Needling Shot and then "I Am The Strongest". Just apply all buffs before going in, warp in and pwn his butt; takes a little over 10 seconds, I never really pay attention. Probably the easiest way to do it and still fight like a Ranger, because with all buffs(and Marks at 15) Needling hits for 80 dmg, so get him below 50% with triple, penetrating and maybe a regular attack, then mash the key for Needling Shot

He doesn't have any PvE skills, so while you Ursan him to death, he just sits and attacks.

UB has no self heal...which may be a bummer. But yeah Norn skills are the way to go i think..
